Laurence Whistler letters to Martin Secker, and manuscript, 1949-1958.

The collection consists of 24 handwritten letters, 2 typed letters, and 5 postal cards from Laurence Whistler to Martin Secker, publisher of Whistler's edition of his brother Rex Whistler's KoĢˆnigsmark drawings in 1952. The correspondence dates from 1949 to 1958, and concerns such matters as wording of the contract, royalties, design of the title page, suggestions for review copies, saving the Iver Grove house, and the eventual remaindering of the book. Included is Whistler's handwritten draft of the introduction in pencil (7 p.), a handwritten draft of the acknowledgements in pencil, and Rex Whistler's drawing for the title page with a note by his brother.
